2007-04-25 - 12:27 a.m. The Abundance of Life The Abundance of Life To be strong so that nothing can upset the peace of my mind. To talk health, happiness and hope to everyone I meet. To make friend and feel that there is something good and beautiful about them. To look at the sunny side of everything and to be optimistic about them. To think of only the best and work towards doing and expecting the best. To be just as happy about the success of others as I am about my own. To forget mistakes of the past and to press forward to greater achievement in the future. To give so much time to improve myself, that I have no time to criticise others. To be TOO STRONG FOR FEAR, TOO KIND FOR ANGER and TOO HAPPY FOR WORRY. To lift my heart in faith each day so that the Gohonzon may show forth in my life. Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo Daisaku Ikeda,SGI president(1974) We have the ability to solve all our problems. The key is to deicide firmly to win first. Then we have to take action. By chanting NMHRGK, we are actually tapping into our own wisdom and strength to solve our problems. It is useless to ask the Gohonzon(object of worship-a scroll of writings) what should I do? or tell me what to do... Instead, one has to decide what to change or do to solve their problems and chant earnestly with that resolve. The resolve will then tranlate into something concrete if one takes action. Everything lies in our mindset(Ichinen). When one's mindset gears towards the positive direction, everything will definitely turn in that way and vice versa. My little piece of thought on buddhism...the law of cause(Ren) and effect(Ge) is always true. --------------------------------------(taken from http://www.sgi.org/buddhism/practice/nam-myoho-renge-kyo.html) Renge means lotus flower. The lotus blooms and produces seeds at the same time, and thus represents the simultaneity of cause and effect. The circumstances and quality of our individual lives are determined by the causes and effects, both good and bad, that we accumulate (through our thoughts, words and actions) at each moment. This is called our "karma." The law of cause and effect explains that we each have personal responsibility for our own destiny. We create our destiny and we can change it. The most powerful cause we can make is to chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo; the effect of Buddhahood is simultaneously created in the depths of our life and will definitely manifest in time. The lotus flower grows and blooms in a muddy pond, and yet remains pristine and free from any defilement, symbolizing the emergence of Buddhahood from within the life of an ordinary person.
