2008-06-09 - 2:32 p.m. books been sick these few days. JinHaw visited me on tuesday and we had a good dialogue. Although some questions are still unanswered, I can feel the sincerity and wisdom in Jinhaw's mannerisms and words. Milk Run is coming. I rally all to join the run to raise funds for the needy children. FD,representing SOka, is participating by performing mass dance in ZOuk. cool huh. I will rally as many students as I can to join the dance because I really feel it's important as youths to reach out and contribute to the society in whatever little ways we can. http://www.milk.org.sg/milk/events.php?id=200801211200906400 was inspired by John Wood who left Microsoft at the peak of his career to setup a company called 'Room to Read'. His turning point came upon a visit to the Himalayas and this was an excerpt: " ...but here was absolute poverty, and poverty of opportunity. What struck me was when the headmaster showed me their 'library'. They have no desks, no chairs, no shelves - and no books. He then spoke a sentence that would forever change my adult life:'Perhaps, Sir, you will come back with some books.'A very simple statement and it hit me hard." It too hit me hard(though not as hard as it hit him) but it made me realise how fortunate we Singaporeans are that books are almost at our disposal. I hope students can all realise this and strive to do their best in their studies because we have so much the deprived don't.
