2009-07-04 - 11:16 a.m. The Inhumane Kamikazes 神凤 I once saw a documentary on the Kamikaze fighters of WWII when irrational and patriotic Japanese soldiers willingly commit suicidal plane attacks on the 'enermy'. yes, selfless, sacrifice all in the name of honour. However, I was shocked that people can become like what Kuo Bao Kun said: "A pack of wolves overnight." It was a documentary on channel news asia. In a war, both sides are losers. To an extend, the one who started the war is at fault. From wikipedia: The Kamikaze (神風, common translation: "divine wind") were suicide attacks by military aviators from the Empire of Japan against Allied naval vessels in the closing stages of the Pacific campaign of World War II, designed to destroy as many warships as possible. Kamikaze pilots would attempt to intentionally crash their aircraft – often laden with explosives, bombs, torpedoes and full fuel tanks – into Allied ships. The aircraft's normal functions, to deliver torpedoes or bombs or shoot down other aircraft, were put aside, and the planes were converted to what were essentially manned missiles, in a desperate attempt to reap the benefits of greatly increased accuracy and payload over that of normal bombs. The goal of crippling as many Allied capital ships as possible was considered critical enough to warrant the sacrifice of aviators and aircraft. I am shocked and appalled by the fact that there are still people in Japan who think that these young suicide fighters were heros and that they are to be respected. I cannot understand why these people fail to understand the very enermy they are killing have their loved ones too, just like how they love thier family. I felt utterly shocked at Mr. Nobu's mindset. I remembered some of the old pilots who were interviewed did not have remorse or guilt on their faces. yes. perhaps in the event of a war, when you are pitched against a so called enermy, you lose your humanity because you only want to fight for your country. Hatred and jingoism blind people's eyes. War is one of the most stupid and foolish construction human beings have invented and created. Perhaps someone would argue it is easy for me to say this. However, it would be a very hard decisions for sovereigns all over the world to make because they have the duty to safeguard thier people. They, us , you, I... Distinctions, y do we have so many distinctions? Friendships, only way is to seek to build more friendships with people ard the world. My China friend, Qikun, my vietnam frens, Sea, Subi, Hanh, my seychelles fren, alan, my msia frens, too many to name all, my german fren, arne, my myanmar fren, hazel, taiwan, etc...
